FAQ
How is the bed cleaned? Is it waterproof?
Cleanliness and protection from moisture or "accidents" are key criteria for every owner. At POUF AND FLOUF, every model is designed to be easily cleaned and to withstand daily use, offering solutions for both indoor and outdoor spaces.
PAF LOUNGE: The base is 100% waterproof, thanks to the Skipper faux leather with certified resistance to urine and chlorine. It is very easily cleaned with a cloth and mild detergents – no scrubbing or special products needed. The cushions have removable covers that are machine washable, for simple and quick care.
PAF IN: The faux leather on the base is cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent – ideal for daily maintenance. The fabric sheet that fits on top is available in a variety of textures and all are machine washable or suitable for dry cleaning. There's no need to change the entire bed – just the sheet, making use more sustainable and economical.
PAF OUT: It is designed for full outdoor use. Its material is the same as that used in boats and seaside applications. It can even be washed with a hose in the yard, without needing special care. It is certified anti-mold, which makes it ideal for humid areas or use in a garden, patio, kennel, etc.
If you are interested in an additional waterproof cover (e.g., during puppy training periods or for incontinent dogs), please contact us – we can suggest solutions on a case-by-case basis.
In practice: A clean bed is not only a matter of hygiene for your dog – it's a matter of practicality for you. All our beds are designed with the goal of easy daily use and minimal care effort.
Is it durable? What if my dog chews it?
Durability is one of the most fundamental requirements for a dog owner – especially when the pet has a habit of "testing" everything in the area with its mouth.
What we offer at POUF AND FLOUF:
All our materials are certified for pet-friendly use, as well as for resistance to specific standards of abrasion and stress (e.g., Skipper faux leather at 120,000 rubs).
The seams, fabrics, and internal materials (foam, memory foam) are chosen for long-term use, even in demanding environments.
In case of "tampering" by the dog:
If your pet has a habit of persistently chewing/digging, it is advisable not to choose cushioned or fluffy models with loose ends.
We recommend the most robust option:
Paf In: Base without soft spots, with a sheet that doesn't "catch" the teeth.
Our policy
We understand that "accidents" can happen – which is why we offer a one-time replacement of the Paf In base, in case of damage from chewing, within the first 6 months from purchase.
Replacement is carried out upon submission of a photograph documenting the damage, and the policy applies exclusively to the Paf In base (not to sheets or covers).
For dogs with excessive energy:
If your dog constantly chews on objects:
Enhance its environment with chew-resistant toys (e.g., rubber or cold bones)
Try texture variations in the bed (e.g., faux leather instead of fabric)
Choose a bed with limited access to corners or cushions, so they don't arouse its curiosity
In these cases, we will be happy to guide you individually to choose the best option.
The essence: Our beds are designed to last. But every dog is different – and that's why we are here to help you with experience, practicality, and a problem-solving attitude.
My dog isn't used to the bed – what should I do?
It's normal for some dogs to find it difficult to adjust to a new bed – especially if they've been sleeping on the couch, the floor, or even your bed until now. The transition requires a little patience, consistency, and a few "tricks" that make all the difference.
1. Training with the "Go to your bed" command
Teach your dog the phrase "go to your bed" and associate it with their new bed. Every time they go or lie there, reward them with a treat or a pat. Positive reinforcement is the most direct way for them to learn where their space is.
2. Place the bed in a strategic spot
Put the bed in a quiet, but not isolated, spot. Dogs want to feel like part of the family, so they prefer to be close to you, but with a space that offers peace and security.
3. Use familiar objects
Place something familiar on the new bed, such as their blanket, an old T-shirt of yours with your scent, or their favorite toy. Familiar smells reduce anxiety and encourage acceptance.
4. Don't pressure them
Avoid forcing them to lie there or "trapping" them. Let them explore it at their own pace. Forced use can create negative associations.
5. Connect it with routine
Put your dog in their bed when they are calm: after a walk, food, or play. This way, the bed becomes associated with relaxation. You can even give them a treat every time they go there on their own.
6. Persistence, not imposition
If your dog insists on sleeping elsewhere, simply reinforce the signals you give them. When they go to the right spot, reward them. When they go elsewhere, guide them back. Within a few days, the habit will be built.
Remember: Like us, dogs have personalities. The point is not to impose – but to guide with consistency and care. Their bed will become their "home" – with love, patience, and the right direction.
What materials are the beds made of? Are they safe and orthopedic?
At POUF AND FLOUF, we select materials that respect both the dog and the owner. Certifications, durability, and functionality are always a priority, without compromising on safety or quality.
Are they pet-safe?
Yes. All our fabrics and materials are pet-friendly and sourced from selected European manufacturers. Many of our fabrics are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, ensuring they do not contain harmful substances.
Furthermore:
Our materials have been selected based on their resistance to urine, cleaning agents, chlorine, and even seawater (in outdoor models such as PAF OUT).
The threads and bases are hydrophobic, so they do not absorb moisture or microbes.
Are they orthopedic?
The term "orthopedic" is very specific and refers to clinically designated products. Our beds are not medical devices, but they offer anatomical support and excellent pressure distribution – which is important for all dogs, and especially for older, heavier dogs or those predisposed to musculoskeletal problems.
Mattresses with memory foam and high-density firm foam embrace the dog's body, help relieve pressure from the joints, and properly support the spine.
Do you use certified foams?
The foams we use are high quality, and many of them meet CertiPUR-US® standards or equivalent European standards, which means:
- No harmful phthalates
- No heavy metals
- No harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds)
In simple terms:
Our beds are safe, with breathable, durable, and supportive materials. We do not categorize them as "orthopedic" in the medical sense, but they offer substantial relief and proper support for the average dog – because for us, comfort is a way of life.
